Screen shot from the package

The package provides an alternative source of information to standard texts, and provides a more efficient mode of teaching for what is often perceived by students as a boring subject.

The courseware aims to enable a student to:

  1. Recognise the correct name for an organic molecule when presented with alternatives
  2. Derive the correct name for a given structure

It is assumed that students will have a basic understanding of organic functional group chemistry before attempting the package.

The package consists of three parts - (a) Alkanes (b) Unsaturated Aliphatic Hydrocarbons (c) Functional group nomenclature. Each section consists of some initial instructional text followed by a series of questions designed to test the understanding of the preceding material.
