This is a teaching package aimed at pharmacy and medicine undergraduates. The package deals with the pathogenesis of hypertension and its management with special consideration of hypertension in pregnancy.

After looking at the information on hypertension, the student is presented with nine case studies. For each case study, the student is given a description of a patient and their condition, and then a sequence of questions about the management of the patient Students are given feedback on their responses.

Contents
1. Pathogenesis of Hypertension
This section defines hypertension and describes its presentation and classification. The risks and complications associated with hypertension are described in some detail.
2. Management of Hypertension
Management of hypertension through both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches is reviewed. The major classes of drugs used in the treatment of hypertension are described in terms of their modes of action, clinical uses and side effects. Comparison is made between the stepped-care and tailored approaches to treatment.
3. Hypertension in Pregnancy
This section looks at what hypertension in pregnancy is and which drugs are used.
