Summary of Sections
Summary and Overview:
Introduces social and Administration and the topic of social policy. Makes students integrate the topic area with Pharmacy practice. Places the lessons in context.
English Health Statutes:
Informs the student from an historical perspective of the genesis of acts which direct practice. Not simply 'working for Patients'.
The Social and Historical Construction of Welfare:
Deals with the concepts of 'negotiation'. Without the belief that change can be engineered, that perceived justice can be fought for, there is no hope and no future.
Ideologies of Welfare:
Provides the theoretical underpinning for political decision making. Why, to your mind, are patently crass and stupid policies enacted in the face of irrefutable evidence to the contrary?
Inequalities in Health:
Demonstrates the truth, that inequalities exist. Such truths are the driving force behind change. Pharmacy needs to demonstrate its place in servicing truths.
Pharmacy and Health Policy:
Brings together package content and focuses it towards Pharmacy issues. Provides a practice forum for the ideas generated.
