Over the past few years, we have built an Assessment System for use with our training and educational software. The CoAcS Assessment Management Center (CAMS) is being used with an increasing number of our projects. To view a working demonstration please click here. The following projects are good examples of how assessment can be integrated with training materials:

Teaching Revolution CDROM: 'Biomolecules and Cell Biology'

A single-user CDROM teaching package covering Biomolecules and Cell Biology. The user can learn using the CDROM, but there is also an array of on-line Assessments to test their knowledge of the various learning modules. Several assessments are available for each module, and the user progresses from Level 1 to Level 5 as their competence increases. Feedback from the assessment is available to the user, as they move from page to page.

Safety in the Clinical Use of Cytotoxics CDROM

Used by doctors, nurses, pharmacists and technicians throughout the National Health Service in the UK. The CDROM learning is supplemented by an on-line assessment system that tests the users competence in the administration of cytotoxic drugs.

Vankel Dissolution Training

Another CDROM package that also provides an assessment leading to the issue of a certificate. In this example, the assessment consists of 30 questions chosen at random from a question bank of 150 questions. The user must achieve an 85% pass rate to receive the certificate. However, following a failed assessment the user can return to the CDROM learning materials and view feedback for failed questions as they move through the learning materials.
