Dr Abdu Ahmed visited Saudi Arabia in July 2008 as invited speaker at Saudi Pharmaceutical Society (SPS) first summer meeting held at Taif on 8-9 July. Dr Ahmed gave two oral presentations at the conference, entitled:” MiDatabank – Software for Medicines Information Services” and “collegeofpharmacy.com: A Virtual College of Pharmacy”.
The SPS summer event was organized in association with Al-Hada Military Hospital. The program covered many practice areas of interest to pharmacists, including: drug formulary management, oncology pharmacy, ambulatory care pharmacy, the role of pharmacists in patient safety, pharmacy education, and some technological advances in pharmacy.
The meeting was attended by prominent leaders of the pharmacy profession in the region including Dr Saleh Bawazeer, Vice President fro Drug Affairs, SFDA and Dr Mohamed Al Haideri, Director of Registration, General Executive Board,
Council of Health Ministers for Cooperation Council States. It was also attended by a number of Deans of faculties of pharmacy in Saudi and also by delegates from pharmaceutical societies in the Gulf States
