MiDatabank now available in Oman
As part of Oman strategy to establish a national network of medicines information, led by the Directorate General of Medical Supplies, Ministry of health MiDatabank has now been installed in MI centres in four hospitals in different regions of the country. These hospitals are:
- Sohar Hospital, North Batinah Region
- Ibra Hospital, North Shargiya Region
- Sur Hospital South, Shargiya Region
- Khoula Hospital, Muscat Region
MiDatabank is a Windows software application that enables Medicines Information Pharmacists to record, manage and store their enquiries. It is the national system that has been adopted by the UK Medicines Information Network which comprises over 200 centres in hospitals throughout the UK.
Dr Abdu Ahmed, CoAcS international operations director, visited Oman in December 2009 and conducted a training workshop on the use of MiDatabank for MI pharmacists working in these centres. The centres also benefit from the use of Medicinescomple the online medicines information resource
