This interactive guide to cell biology is aimed primarily at undergraduate level, but might also find significant use at 'A' level. The user can navigate freely around the different sections although, to aid this, an index would be useful. Information is presented clearly and, whilst lacking photographic content, uses some excellent graphics featuring a 'zoom-in' facility to good effect. Each 'page' contains a manageable amount of information, using hyperlinks to access further information without making the screen too busy. The user is therefore forced to work at a measured yet sensible pace through the comprehensive content. Additional information is given through an audio commentary, and a limited glossary is accessible in some parts of the package. The package covers structure and function of eukaryotic cells and their organelles, structure and function of different animal tissues, and outlines differences between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. A feature with this, as with other titles available from the same source, is the good use of questions which serve to focus the attention at the end of sections/topics.This title would make an excellent resource and a valuable addition to the library of any institution offering courses in biology at advanced or undergraduate level.
